Spencer House Mission is a Muslim-led, place-based initiative dedicated to strengthening connection, belonging, and opportunity across Victoria’s multicultural and Muslim communities. Located within Melbourne’s CBD, Spencer House Mission seeks to address a critical missing layer in Victoria’s social infrastructure – not by duplicating existing services, but by connecting, integrating, convening, and strengthening them.

By bridging communities, institutions, and pathways, we help move people from support to participation, and from isolation to inclusion. Through culturally grounded, collaborative, and community-led approaches, Spencer House Mission aims to strengthen wellbeing, civic participation, social cohesion, and long-term community resilience across Victoria.

The Gaps in Services

Victoria is home to a wide range of organisations delivering welfare, settlement, youth, mental health, education, and faith-based services. While these services play an important role, many individuals and families continue to face barriers in accessing pathways to support, participation, and opportunity.

The challenge is not simply a lack of services, but fragmentation across the broader ecosystem.

Many communities experience:

Spencer House Mission uses social enterprise as a practical delivery model to strengthen impact and sustainability, rather than as an end in itself.

This approach supports long-term financial resilience, creates real-world training and employment pathways, and enables partnerships across government, philanthropy and industry. It also fosters collaboration with ethical service providers, with all enterprise surplus reinvested into Mission programs in support of its charitable purpose.

Who We Are

Spencer House Mission is a Muslim-led initiative focused on creating culturally appropriate and Muslim-friendly pathways within Melbourne’s CBD.

Located on the western edge of the CBD, at 371 Spencer Street West Melbourne, we provide:

A trusted and accessible community space
A central hub for connection and engagement
A bridge between community and mainstream institutions
A platform that supports belonging, participation, and wellbeing

We work collaboratively with government, NGOs, health providers, legal services, educators, faith groups, and community organisations to strengthen access, reduce fragmentation, and improve outcomes for communities.

What We Are Not

Spencer House Mission is not:

A traditional welfare provider focused solely on crisis response
A mosque-only institution limited to religious programs
A stand-alone service agency operating in isolation
A duplicate of existing government or community services
A short-term support model
