As a Muslim-led community platform, Spencer House Mission supports individuals and families experiencing disadvantage, including those re-integrating into society, through holistic, place-based and community-centred support.

Welcome to Spencer House Mission

Spencer House Mission operates as a Public Benevolent Institution (PBI) dedicated to delivering direct, targeted relief to individuals and families experiencing significant economic and social disadvantage.

It is designed as a place-based platform that moves people from crisis to capability to participation – providing immediate support while creating dignified, structured pathways out of hardship.
At its core, the Mission alleviates economic disadvantage, reduces welfare dependence, and enables pathways to financial self-sufficiency, inclusion, and long-term independence.

Located at 371 Spencer Street, West Melbourne, within the Spencer Street Hub, offering a welcoming and inclusive community space.

Integrated Social Support Services

The Mission operates as a hub for individuals experiencing disadvantage, including those re-integrating into society. Its primary activities remain focused on the direct relief of poverty, distress, and disadvantage.

The Mission delivers integrated social support services that combine immediate assistance with long-term capacity building. All programs are intentionally designed to:

Relieve immediate hardship
Provide early intervention during periods of vulnerability
Build capability, resilience, and confidence
Enable participation in the social and economic life of the community

Participants are individuals who:

Are experiencing genuine hardship; and
Require support to build capacity and transition toward independence

The Mission delivers an integrated community ecosystem across the three-level Spencer Street Hub, where each space is intentionally designed to foster connection, participation, learning and empowerment.

Programs are targeted to individuals and community groups experiencing genuine hardship who require support to build capacity toward stability, resilience, and long-term independence. Spencer House Mission prioritises four key groups.

Refugees and newly arrived

Facing systemic barriers to employment and settlement

Young people

Long-term unemployment risk or exiting the justice system

Women

Economic vulnerability, social isolation, family violence

Families

Relationship counselling, financial guidance, and service navigation

Together, these cohorts are supported within a safe, inclusive and accessible environment that integrates immediate assistance with long-term development.
