About Us

Spencer House Mission exists to provide direct benevolent relief and create pathways out of disadvantage for individuals and communities experiencing hardship.

Our Promise to the Community

We deliver practical support that responds to immediate needs while providing integrated services that address health, wellbeing, housing and broader social challenges.

Through education, training and employment pathways, alongside safe and inclusive spaces for connection and support, the Mission helps reduce isolation, remove barriers to participation, and empower individuals to build sustainable and independent futures.

Our Purpose

To create pathways that enable people and communities to move from crisis to capability and participation.

Our Vision

A connected and inclusive community where every person has the dignity, capability and opportunity to participate fully in social and economic life.

Our Mission

To deliver integrated, place-based and human-centred support that provides immediate relief, builds capability and strengthens pathways to social and economic participation.

Our Values

Our Values guides every action: serving with compassion, upholding dignity, advancing equity, showing respect, and working together.

Compassion

We respond with care, empathy and kindness to those experiencing hardship.

Dignity

We uphold the inherent worth of every individual and provide support respectfully and without judgement.

Equity

We work to remove barriers and strengthen fair access to opportunity and support.

Respect

We value diverse backgrounds, lived experiences and perspectives.

Collaboration

We work together with communities, partners and institutions to achieve stronger and more sustainable outcomes.

Core Assets

Team

A values-driven team with deep community trust, cross-sector expertise, and strong partnerships.

Location

A central, accessible location providing a natural point of connection for communities and services.

Facilities

A purpose-built environment including a training centre, café and library, youth space, and women’s lounge, supporting learning, connection, and participation.

Together, these cohorts are supported within a safe, inclusive and accessible environment that integrates immediate assistance with long-term development.

Social Enterprise Model

Spencer House Mission uses social enterprise as a practical delivery model to strengthen impact and sustainability, rather than as an end in itself.

This approach supports long-term financial resilience, creates real-world training and employment pathways, and enables partnerships across government, philanthropy and industry. It also fosters collaboration with ethical service providers, with all enterprise surplus reinvested into Mission programs in support of its charitable purpose.

All enterprise activity remains incidental to the charitable purpose, with all surplus reinvested into Mission programs.

Mission Café & Library

Operating as an ancillary initiative of Spencer Street Hub, the Mission Café & Library provides a welcoming and structured community environment that supports connection, learning and personal development.

The program delivers real-world training and supported employment opportunities that build skills, confidence and workplace readiness, while generating income to strengthen Mission programs.

More than a commercial venture, the Café & Library exists to advance participant development, benevolent relief and community impact, with all surplus reinvested into the Mission.

Our Impact

Spencer House Mission is designed to create both immediate support and lasting change. Through holistic and community-centred programs, participants are supported to overcome immediate barriers, build confidence and capability, access training and employment pathways, and work toward long-term independence and social participation.

Beyond individual outcomes, Spencer House Mission contributes to stronger and more inclusive communities by increasing employment and economic participation, reducing long-term welfare dependency, strengthening social cohesion, and supporting resilient, self-reliant communities.
